TLDR;
Light ashy peat, coastal elements and creamy.
Nice Scale; 83/100
A release by Tompson Bros in July 2022, it was bottled at one of the distilleries in 'secret' Orkney. Distilled in 2011, bottled after 11 years of maturation at 50%. With an outturn of 406 bottles.
There is a twist in the cask maturation, was first aged in refill Hogshead and then transferred to ex-Caol Ila to mature for another 6 months. It sure makes this HP, I mean secret Orkney, unique.
Orkney 2011 11 YO 50%
Nose: I smell a few white grapes mixed together with green apples, barley, melon, light and sweet. Aromatic.There are elements of mud and coastal elements in the nose as well. The nose is pretty thin with hints of ashy-ness (burning paper) as well.
Mouth: Do expect the presence of coastal elements, sweet and creamy. But to me, there are still some leftover white grapes and a light body.
Finish: Dry gentle smoke with pepper.
Overall, as someone who enjoys peaty whisky, I would say this is a very light, peaty whisky. The thin white grape taste does make this drink delicate. Elegant in its own way but the nose sure does better than the mouth.
Nice Scale; 83/100
Edit; I had to revisit this beauty, and I felt it deserves more elaboration.
A group of TB bottles was in the corner of my house- DONT PUT THEM ALL TOGETHER SO THEY DONT KNOW HOW MUCH BOTTLES YOU BOUGHT XD
